Philippe Maury was born in 1962 in Toulouse, but the musical adventure began in Senegal. During these first years, the African percussions and the poetry of Griots will, doubtless, mark with their imprint, the sensibility of the author. Back to France, the mood of time (the Parisian suburb before May, 68) as well as an elder brother, contributed largely to his musical education... Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Traffic, Jethro Tull, Bob Dylan, Carlos Santana... But above all, the psychedelic atmospheres of the first albums of the Floyd, as well as Peter Gabriel's charisma at the beginning of Genesis. On the way back in his "pink native city " in the middle of the 70s, he naturally continued to develop his ear in the listening of musicians for the greater part of English culture and language.... Toto, Police, Yes, Alan Parson Project, Barclay James Harvest, J.J Cale, George Harrison, David Gilmour and always... Peter Gabriel! The broad-mindedness on the French artists will be done towards 1980. At this time the writing intruded on him as the continuation of its literary studies with, as models, Nougaro, Gainsbourg, Charlelie Couture Jonasz, Higelin, Lavilliers, Ange, Magma... The poetry and the love of the rhyme were going to conjugate to put themselves in the service of a philosophical then spiritual step.
The story of "Little man" started in 1995. The author is taken by passion for India, land of music and spiritualities... Four years of readings, writing and composition, interspersed with happy and more painful events. In 1996, he settled down in the south of France (Ariege). A work of collaboration begins with Nico. Thanks to him, the idea of producing an album spring up little by little in the thread of the rehearsals. In 1999, his musicians friends of always, answered present, without hesitating, and took up the challenge: to bring their know-how and their advices of professionals to an author composer interprets friend but nevertheless... amateur! It is then the meeting of Willy with whom, Serge, the bass player, worked in studio. Three rehearsals, followed by the recording of the first 4 pieces of music on PC, then Willy left France. It has been necessary to wait one year on to get back the road of studios for, finally, conclude with the album on Mac "at home". Meanwhile, a journey in the North India, from Delhi to the frontier of the Tibet, will contribute to give to the album its final influences. From a continent to an other one, the musical adventure of "Little Man" had ended in December 2002 in the studios of SUDE communication in Toulouse (in charge of the mastering). Self-taught musician, "traumatized by solfeggio", the guitar had become then the instrument thanks to he will put his texts in music, 15 years later. The decade 80 will be marked by choices of life which will privilege university education and an orientation towards the animation, the associative life and the educational system.
